Place and Meaning in Space

Place and space are in some senses the ‘terrible twins’ of geography. Unlike space, where geographical thought on the matter has been more or less settled for decades, place is a concept that continues to attract attention. Some of the more interesting developments in giscience grapple with this topic seeing potential for a platial giscience (see this conference series) often drawing on the kinds of fuzzy data that can be derived from geotagged social media.
